The project “Transatlantic AI-based Robotics (TransAir)” is a cooperation between the Cluster for Artificial Intelligence located in Bremen (including EASE and the Institute for Artificial Intelligence at Bremen University) and North America. Supporting institutions in the U.S. are the German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) and the Bertelsmann Foundation Northamerica (BFNA).
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics are discussed very differently in the USA and Germany. Be it in the fields of research or commercial use, or in the public debate about the social impact, the approach in both countries is very different. This project aims for both sides to exchange more intensively, to learn from each other, and to cooperate with each other on an international rather than national level.
The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the “Future of work” program (funding period: 2014 – 2020) which addresses structural changes resulting from automation and increasing globalization in the working world.
The draft-proposal was submitted and accepted, and now the final proposal has been submitted. We are already very excited as to how the project will develop!
