Project TransAIR – final proposal accepted!

We are proud to announce that the final proposal for “TransAIR” was accepted!

The project “Transatlantic AI-based Robotics (TransAir)” is a cooperation between the Cluster for Artificial Intelligence located in Bremen and North America. Participating institutions in Germany are BIBA – Bremer Institut für Produktion und Logistik GmbH, Cluster Material Science, Cyber-Physical Systems, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), Hanse Wissenschaftskolleg, Institute for Advanced Study, Haus der Wissenschaft, MARUM – Center for Marine Environmental Sciences, and the CRC EASE – Everyday Activity Science and Engineering.

Supporting institutions in the U.S. are the German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) and the Bertelsmann Foundation Northamerica (BFNA).

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics are discussed very differently in the U.S. and Germany, including the fields of research and commercial use and the public debate about the social impact. The project aims for both sides to cooperate with each other on an international rather than national level.

The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the “Future of work” program (funding period: 2014 – 2020). For more information, please go to http://www.research-in-germany.org/

We are excited to see where it goes!
